The Tiger and the Brahmin: A tiger trapped in a cage convinced a kind Brahmin to let him out, promising not to harm him. But as soon as the tiger was free, he decided to eat the Brahmin. The Brahmin, frightened, asked the tiger to allow him to seek justice from three beings before accepting his fate. He consulted a tree, a buffalo, and a road; each of them told the Brahmin that humans were selfish and deserved no sympathy. Finally, the Brahmin met a clever jackal, who, feigning ignorance, asked the tiger to show how he was trapped. The tiger re-entered the cage, and the jackal quickly locked him in again.
