Then Jehoshaphat was afraid and set his face to seek the Lord, and proclaimed a fast throughout all Judah.When we are going through a difficult situation, certainly, the first thing we should do is seek the Lord in prayer.In Psalm fifty, verse fifteen, the Lord said the following: Call upon me in the day of trouble; I will deliver you, and you shall glorify me.The Lord is attentive to the prayer of His people, so we should pray, believing that He is listening to our prayer.The second thing Jehoshaphat did, also mentioned in verse three, was to fast.Fasting is very important because when we fast, we humble ourselves before the Lord. And Scripture says: Humble yourselves before the Lord, and he will exalt you.Every Christian who has the habit of praying and fasting knows how powerful this is.The third thing Jehoshaphat did was to gather with his people.In verse four, it is written:And Judah assembled to seek help from the Lord; from all the cities of Judah they came to seek the Lord.This is an attitude that many people have neglected.There are many people who have stopped gathering with other Christians for various reasons, disobeying the Scripture which says:Let us not neglect meeting together, as is the habit of some, but encouraging one another, and all the more as you see the Day drawing near.I know that the church is not perfect, after all, it is made up of people and people have flaws. People wrong each other. People hurt each other. But people also have qualities.And in the church, there are people who have qualities, who pray for each other, and who care for those who are suffering.When I started going to church, I was in a very difficult situation. That was over twenty years ago.And during these years, I met in the church people who hindered me, who bothered me, who spoke ill of me, and who even made me angry. However, I also met people who helped me a lot, who prayed for me, who advised me, and who listened to me when I needed to vent.
