Why do most students and quite a few teachers too, refer to C/C++ in one breath, as it were? Have the engineering colleges somehow squeezed in the teaching of the procedural programming paradigm and the object oriented programming paradigm using the languages C and C++, in one semester? I examined the courses of a few universities, and was dismayed to find that neither do they teach the procedural programming paradigm nor the object oriented paradigm in that one common course that is available for all students of engineering. Indeed, I wonder whether the course has indeed brought out the distinction in these programming paradigms! Do I hear someone ask “What the heck is a paradigm?”
