In a few of the other nearby countries, a group of young pioneers living in one place would have a Fund box in which everyone put whatever money he could earn each day. Every morning, they would pray together and then go out to find work. They were lucky if one or two of them could earn a little doing a labourer's job or carrying loads on their backs. In the evening when they came home, they put what they had earned into their common box. Sometimes the box remained empty and they had to go without food. At other times they had enough money to buy a little bread to be shared. If they were very lucky, they could have a cooked meal. This sometimes went on for months, but the pioneers persevered until, very gradually, they were able to find regular jobs.
