This video will be made using stop motion on a whiteboard. It will include multimedia, diagrams, and explanations. How the sun's energy changes weatherScene : Tornado spinning, changes to sun's rays hitting earth once talking about energy“The Sun can influence Earth's climate, but it isn't responsible for the warming trend we've seen over recent decades.”Energy in the form of solar radiation warms the atmosphere and impacts what makes up the atmosphere , while the movement of solar heat across the planet makes global wind patterns and forms clouds, storms, and rain.Energy impacting weatherScene: Shows energy animation and fast wind moving aroundEnergy is a very important factor in weather and storms, as we can predict how bad the weather may be. For example, before a storm, meteorologists measure the amount of potential energy in the atmosphere to determine how bad a weather event could be. The energy is measured in Joules per kg and results from the momentum of air moving throughout the atmosphere.SupercellsScene: Rotating supercell raining and producing hail.Supercells are a type of thunderstorm that rotate. Supercells can be very powerful, and are often associated with large hail, heavy rain and small to powerful tornadoes. When updraft (rising clouds) mix with downdraft(falling clouds) and become sorted, the thunderstorm begins to spin counterclockwise. Small cumulus clouds can grow.(Diagram of supercell Here)How tornadoes formScene: Animation of tornado being formedAs a supercell forms, a horizontal spinning vortex of air in the centre of the storm begins to grow bigger and tilt vertically, which makes a funnel cloud. As the downward draft continues to push the funnel cloud down, its speed gets faster, and the weight pushes it down into a smaller area. Eventually, the funnel cloud is pushed down enough that it touches the ground. This makes the funnel cloud a tornado. A very noticeable way to see if a tornado is forming or formed is to find a “hook echo” which looks like the storm being pulled into the tornado.(Picture of tornado radar )
