Today, let's dive into Part 3 of our series on the 16 printing techniques, focusing on the foam or puff printing craft. Foam printing, often referred to as 3D printing, is an innovative technique that evolved from the traditional glue printing process. The essence of its method involves incorporating a mix of chemicals, each with a high expansion coefficient, into the printing ink. When this mixture is dried at a high temperature of 200-300 degrees Celsius, it foams up, creating a three-dimensional effect reminiscent of embossing. Depending on the specific requirements of the substrate, foam printing can produce varying degrees of this eye-catching 3D effect, from subtle to pronounced. The hallmark of foam printing is its pronounced 3D appearance, with the print rising from the surface, offering both visual and textural depth. This method is particularly popular with cotton and nylon fabrics among others. However, it's worth noting that the 3D effect may gradually diminish and flatten after multiple washes.
