Animal tissues are cells that work together to perform a specific function. There are four main types of animal tissues:Epithelial Tissue: This tissue covers the body's surface, lines organs and cavities, and helps in protection, secretion, and absorption. Examples include skin, the lining of the digestive tract, and the inner layer of blood vessels.Connective Tissue: This is the most abundant tissue in the body. It provides support, structure, and connects other tissues. Connective tissue consists of cells, fibers, and a ground substance. Examples include bone, cartilage, blood, and ligament.Muscle Tissue: This tissue allows for movement. It consists of long, slender cells that can contract and relax. There are three types of muscle tissue: skeletal muscle (voluntary), smooth muscle (involuntary), and cardiac muscle (involuntary).Nervous Tissue: This tissue carries information throughout the body. It is made up of nerve cells (neurons) and glial cells. Neurons transmit electrical signals, while glial cells support and protect the neurons.
